Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Language Accessibility

The Illinois Department on Aging  (IDoA) provides language assistance services to older adults and their families consistent with various federal mandates and statewide Acts. These include Title V of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Language assistance services may be accessed through the Senior HelpLine at 1-800-252-8966, Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5:00 pm.  Individuals with a hearing or speech disability may dial 711 to reach Illinois Relay.

The Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA) requires Illinois agencies and universities to ensure that their websites, information systems, and information technologies are accessible to people with disabilities.  The policy requires:

  • Providing text equivalents for images
  • Creating accessible forms
  • Insuring sites are functional without a mouse
  • Limiting the use of Flash and JavaScript. When used, ensuring the site is still functional if these technologies are not available to users.

If you have questions or comments about information technology accessibility, please email DoIT.Accessibility@Illinois.gov .
