Older Americans Act (Reauthorized in 2020)

Federal Rules:

The Administration on Community Living (ACL) has published a proposed rule to update the Older Americans Act regulations. ACL accepted public comments through August 15, 2023, and will issue a final rule in the months ahead. The full text of the proposed rule is available here.

Rule Changes:

The Department's First Notice for proposed amendments to Community Care Program (CCP) [89 Ill. Adm. Code 240] regarding Medicaid asset limits was published on page 7036 of Issue 21 in Volume 47 of the Illinois Register on May 26, 2023.  Emergency rules were also filed in this issue on page 7115.

  • Part 530 Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act

    • The Illinois Cares Rx Program was terminated by Public Act 97-689 on July 1, 2012, and the Circuit Breaker Program was not funded for State Fiscal Year 2013 under Public Act 97-730. Applications received by the Department on Aging will be used to determine eligibility for the license plate discount and mass transit benefits under the Persons with Disabilities Ride Free Program and Seniors Ride Free Program.
