Multi-Sector Plan for Aging
Building on the grassroots advocacy of the Illinois Aging Together Coalition, Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2024-02 in August 2024 to begin the development process for a Multi-Sector Plan for Aging (MPA). The MPA is a 10-year blueprint to support healthy aging in Illinois communities, while also addressing issues related to healthcare, housing, transportation, and other social determinants of health.
The Executive Order establishes:
- A Chief Planning Officer within IDoA
- A Community Advisory Council consisting of diverse members appointed by the Governor
- A Task Force of more than a dozen state government agencies
- A research partner to support the Chief, Advisory Council and Task Force
These entities will work together to complete and submit the MPA to the Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2025, and an implementation status report by December 31, 2026.
Illinois joins 15 other states that are implementing or are authorized to develop an MPA.
