Senior Housing Residents' Advisory Council

Established under Public Act 102-0986, the purpose of the Senior Housing Residents' Advisory Council is to create a space and opportunity for older Illinoisans to connect with each other and formulate ideas on how the State can improve the quality of life for its older residents, particularly those residing in long-term care facilities and other congregate settings.

*The Illinois Department on Aging is seeking to make several appointments to this newly established advisory group.

We are seeking to identify for appointment:

-two older adults who reside in affordable housing developments for seniors

-one adult family member of an older adult who resides in an assisted living facility

-one older adult who lives in southern Illinois

-one older adult who lives in western Illinois

-one administrative personnel from an affordable housing development for seniors

All council members are volunteers appointed to serve through December 2025. Those interested in being considered for appointment in one of the above categories are encouraged to contact Gloria Simmons at gloria.simmons2@illinois.gov. Prospective appointees are subject to a vetting process at the discretion of the Illinois Department on Aging and the Office of the Governor.
